The Winter X Games welcomes more than 200 athletes and the biggest names in action sports for competition in: Skiing, Snowboarding and Snowmobile.
Make-A-Wish Foundation®: Two Make-A-Wish® guests will have their wishes granted in Aspen: Ryley, age 17 from Escondido, Calif. and Ethan, age 12 from Hancock, N.Y. They and their families will get a behind-the-scenes look at the event, meet athletes, watch the events up close and enjoy time skiing and riding.
Winter X Games Benefit Kickoff: The V Foundation for Cancer Research and Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) will host the Winter X Games 15 Kick-Off Bash Presented by Sports Authority on Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Aspen Room and Fountain Courtyard at the St. Regis Hotel in downtown Aspen. This one-of-a-kind charity event returns for a third year as a family-friendly experience where guests will be able to mix and mingle with Winter X Games 15 athletes, enjoy a fashion show, musical performances, fireside food, drinks and partake in an exclusive silent auction filled with unique memorabilia. Team ESPN Tent: Located in X Fest at Buttermilk Mountain, the Team ESPN tent will showcase cause-related organizations including The V Foundation for Cancer Research, Boarding for Breast Cancer, Donor Dudes, and SOS Outreach. Girls’ Day - At Girls’ Day on Sunday, Jan. 30, fans can join one of the “girls only” clinics between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Female action sports athletes on hand: Kaitlyn Farrington from 11:30 to noon brought to you by Nooka, and Aspen’s own Gretchen Bleiler from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. brought to you by espnW. At 2:30 p.m., the Sports Authority All Girls Best Trick Competition takes place at the X Fest SnowPark. Kids’ Day: The 10th annual Aspen Kids’ Day will take place on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for students from grades fourth to sixth. This year’s event will be built around exposing the students to the creativity that goes into staging the Winter X Games with an educational focus in one or a combination of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Following the day’s events, students will be given a follow up opportunity to submit a video concept to ESPN Gaming that could potentially be incorporated into the creation of a future video game. The challenge will be to delight, inspire and engage other kids ages nine to 12 by designing a video game based on the building and use of an X Games Course.
