Garden City's boys varsity lacrosse team defeated the Smithtown West Bulls 6-2 in non league action on Saturday morning March 26th at Garden City HS. Smithtown's Kyle Keenan put the Bulls ahead early in the game with two goals (one off of an assist from James Pannell). With Smithtown ahead 2-0 to start the second quarter, GC's Rob Savage broke through to give the Trojans their first goal of the game. From there on Garden City controlled the play of the game. The defense, led by Stephen Jahelka, Brian Fischer, JP Burnside and Eugene Berkery kept the Bulls off the board for the rest of the game. Additional GC goals by Patric Berkery, Brian Coleman, Tom Gordon (assist from Devin Dwyer), Mark Ellis and Liam Kennedy (who tipped the ball in after JP Burnside brought it downfield) led to the 6-2 victory for the Trojans. Dan Marino, in goal for Garden City, made 10 saves. Ryan Adler made 8 saves for Smithtown West.
