All Four Rounds of Senior Open Championship to Air on ESPN Platforms Two hours of live coverage of each of the four rounds of the championship will air on ESPN’s multimedia platforms.
News-Sports.net - Jul 20,2012 - One of golf’s iconic and historic venues will host the best in senior golf in The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex July 26-29 at Turnberry in South Ayrshire, Scotland. Two hours of live coverage of each of the four rounds of the championship will air on ESPN’s multimedia platforms.
ESPN2, ESPN3 and WatchESPN will air tournament action on Thursday and Friday, July 26-27, from noon until 2 p.m. ET. Television coverage shifts to ESPN for the third round on Saturday, July 28, and then returns to ESPN2 for the final round on Sunday, July 29, from noon until 2 p.m. both days. ESPN3 and WatchESPN also will air the Saturday and Sunday coverage.
American Tom Watson, an eight-time major winner, will be playing on the same course where he and Jack Nicklaus battled in the famous “Duel in the Sun” in the 1980 Open Championship.
Among other Americans in the field will be former Ryder Cup captains Tom Lehman and Tom Kite, defending champion Ross Cochran and first-time Senior Open Championship competitor Fred Couples.
The sterling field of players also will include all-time standout European golfers Tony Jacklin and Bernhard Langer, with former Ryder Cup captain Jacklin returning to competitive golf for the first time in five years. Australian Greg Norman, who won The Open Championship at Turnberry in 1986, is also entered.
Legendary British golf announcer Peter Alliss will host ESPN’s telecasts, joined by two-time U.S. Open champions Andy North and Curtis Strange. Bill Kratzert will report from the course.
All Senior Open Championship programming on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN3 will also be available on computers, smartphones and tablets through WatchESPN.com and the free WatchESPN app, which are accessible to fans who receive their video service from an affiliated provider, and through ESPN on Xbox LIVE. ESPN Mobile TV will have live mobile video simulcasts of all four rounds.
