First 12 Players for 2012 Under Armour Elite 24 on ESPNU Nation’s Top High School Basketball Players Selected to Compete in Slam Dunk and Competition August 24 and 25
News-Sports.net - Jul 31,2012 - The first 12 players selected to participate in the Under Armour Elite 24, an elite high school basketball event featuring both competition and a slam dunk contest, includes the No.2 player in the ESPN 100 Julius Randle and the No. 1 player in the ESPN 60 Andrew Wiggins.
Randle will be returning to the event at the Venice Beach outdoor courts for the second consecutive year, however this will be Wiggins’ first Elite 24. The Under Armour Slam Dunk Contest will air on ESPNU Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. ET and continue with the nation’s best tipping-off on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.
Featuring 24 of the top high school basketball players from across the nation, participants are selected by ESPN basketball experts based on performance during AAU tournaments and national summer camps.

Thirty-four past participants went on to become No.1 NBA Draft picks including 2011 Cleveland Cavaliers’ pick Kyrie Irving (2009 event alum), and 2010 Washington Wizards’ pick John Wall (2008 event alum). Irving and event alum Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings were also named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2012 and 2010, respectively.
Under Armour is the sponsor for the 2012 event, the title sponsor of the slam dunk contest and the official apparel sponsor. Wilson is the official ball sponsor and Gatorade is this year’s official hydration sponsor.
